There are serious health risks associated with binge eating disorder (BED), including:

Weight gain/obesity
High blood pressure
High cholesterol
Heart disease
Type II diabetes mellitus
Fortunately, most of the physical consequences of binge eating disorder can be reversed through diet and exercise. However, if you do not get help, you will continue to struggle with your relationship with food.

That’s why it’s important to recognize that BED is a mental health illness, not a matter of trying to exercise more self-control.
